Copywriting: The next ten years
When deciding to embark upon a career path, it’s important to consider future trends in that profession.
In contrast to some other industries and professions, copywriting has a bright future.
Think about recent labour trends.
Companies are out-sourcing more work
Independent, self-employed copywriters may benefit from the growing trend of companies to contract out services that were traditionally performed in-house.
With an eye on the bottom line, companies are increasingly trimming expenses through the use of independent contractors. After all, it is very expensive to have an employee; the company must make mandatory employer tax contributions, and may offer employees health benefits, and sick and holiday time. Using a self-employed copywriter is much less expensive than having an in-house copywriter. It is likely that this trend will continue over the next decade.
And from the point of view of the copywriter working remotely is excellent news. There are no travel expenses, delays getting to work or unnecessary meetings to attend. Working from home is an excellent option for copywriters with children or for copywriters who would rather work in their own environment and be their own boss.
The positive signs are there
There is no sign that the need for copywriters is decreasing. Indeed, there are indicators that the market for copywriters will increase over the next decade. There are lots of new websites being set up as sources of work and forums for copywriters to hold discussions with each other.
Overall, the future looks bright for those who are in the copywriting profession.
