Many people think copywriting is just done by people that work in glamorous advertising agencies. Many copywriters do work in these agencies, but just as many work as freelancers and have the ability to pick and choose their work.
The range of material a copywriter writes is vast:
- Web copy
- Direct mail letters
- Press releases
- Press ads
- Brochure and leaflet copy
- TV and radio commercials
- Sales letters
- Newsletters
Some copywriters specialize in one or more of the above, but usually a copywriter will wish to expand their experience and write for most or all of the above categories.
Copywriting is a varied and interesting career, and every day is different. One day you might find yourself writing advertisements for an estate agency, the next writing web pages for a finance company, and then writing a sales letter for a fashion designer.
Some projects may only take a day, whilst others can last months. It’s really up to you how much work you feel you can handle and how much money you want to make.
