How to Become a Copywriter
Yesterday, we asked the question, ‘What is copywriting?’ We also looked at what jobs you can get in copywriting, and what attributes you need.
Today, we consider how much copywriters earn, and what qualifications you need.
How much do Copywriters earn?
There’s a big variation. You could end up as chief executive of a major advertising agency, earning $130,000 (£80,000), and much more if it’s your own agency. A copywriter in a big city agency can earn $55,000 (£35,000). In a client company or regional ad agency you can earn £22,000 to $50,000 (£14,000 – £25,000). What Qualifications do I need?
You don’t need qualifications to work in copywriting. What counts is your writing skills. However, if you’re seeking employment in a larger firm, a degree (any degree) can help. If you have little or no experience in copywriting, consider taking our course and you could be starting a new career sooner than you think. Register now at www.inst.org/copy.
