CW 116 ASSIGNMENT 1: TELL YOUR TUTOR ABOUT YOURSELF

In this assignment, write an essay telling your tutor about yourself, your interests and your aims. The essay should be 1½ to 3 pages in length. What are your copywriting goals? How do you see copywriting fitting into your life? What domestic responsibilities do you have? Are you employed, self-employed, seeking work, a home-maker, or retired?

What education or training have you had? What do you see as your strengths and weaknesses?

How would you judge your life until now? Has writing or copywriting played any part in it? Have you useful experience in a particular market or type of work? What other relevant work or life experiences have you had?

Is copywriting set to be a major change for you? Or is it an extension of what you already do?

At this point, we are not looking for a plan of action, merely a view of your situation and your goals.

Don’t seek to write this assignment as advertising copy. Simply write it as an essay, structuring it as you feel appropriate. But keep the copy tightly written, using short sentences.

The purpose of this assignment is to help us (and you) understand what you hope to get out of the course, and to set your sights on the future.
