Writing to sell
Many clients look for copywriters who can write good sales letters. They may want a hard-hitting high impact letter or a more subtle approach. No matter what type of sales letter you’re writing the construction is basically the same.
* Write a powerful opening – ask a question: Do you want to pay off your debts in 6 months?
* Write several pages – this is more likely to produce results than a short letter.
- Write in a friendly tone – too formal and you’ll turn the reader off.
- Sell the benefits of the product and what it will do to make the reader’s life easier.
- Use sub-headings to introduce new points and tell a story.
- Ask for the sale – if you want the reader to buy your product then tell them as soon as possible – there’s no room for waffle in a sales letter.
- Emphasize important words in bold.
- Call the reader to action.
