I started grooming as I was growing up. It was always my job to sort the dogs, clip their nails, bath them, brush and de shed them, walk them, feed them, and clean their teeth. And I have always taken to it well and am pretty good.

I thought it would be great to do this for a job or extra money, whichever it becomes. It’s mainly for the love of dogs: I just adore them.

Most dogs I have done have been fine. However two little Chihuahuas both bit me while I was clipping their nails, but that was OK. They were terrified and it didn’t hurt much, bless em.

I had one dog who liked to pancake on me, lol! Patience is all you need. Most of the dogs have been voluntary, with three paying. I did a poster about Free Dog Grooming for Trainee Dog Groomer (see pic).

At the moment I am working from my home. I market myself with cards and leaflets, and word of mouth and social media is very useful.I would say I have been grooming about 20 dogs so far. I still have loads I would like to do, still learning but loving it too.
