Pet Bereavement Counselling – Converting from Queries into Clients
As a pet bereavement counsellor, one needs to be supportive, and react with compassion and understanding. A person who has lost a pet is likely to be in a very emotional state of mind, and the job of a pet bereavement counsellor is to help the bereaved person overcome their grief and get their life back on track, on being able to finally cope with their loss. A pet bereavement counsellor should not be judgmental, but need to be an active listener, and help people adopt appropriate strategies for coping with their loss.
As a pet bereavement counsellor, you will get regular queries from grieving people, and in order to make your services effective, your primary objective should be converting from queries into clients. Here are a few tips which should give you a fair idea about how to achieve this:
1. Active Listening
Let the prospective client open the dialog. You need to let them have their say, and all you need to do is make a few acknowledgementsounds like “yes”, “I see”, “I understand”, and so on. When the person has finished what they had to say, then you can respond appropriately.
2. Consider Attention Span
Generally speaking, the attention span of a person tends to be limited. Hence, when you are interacting with a prospective client, you need to steer the conversation in such a way that you can convince the client, in a very subtle way, that you are here to help and indeed, will do so.
3. Maintain Eye Contact
While facing someone, ensure that you look them in the eye when you speak. This is a technique that helps to build trust, which will in turn increase your chances of being hired by the prospective client.
4. The Power of Testimonials
There is nothing like a good track record for convincing a client that you are fit for the job. If you have had some exceptional success with particular clients previously, ensure that you have this information on your fingertips. You can convert a query into a client within seconds, by just giving examples of how you have successfully helped people in the past.
5. Facial Expressions and Body Language
This is one of the most important techniques in communication skills. In order for your prospective client to feel some kind of bond with you, you need to ensure that you adopt appropriate facial expressions, depending on what the person is telling you. You need to convince them that you are in sync with their situation, by responding with appropriate facial and hand gestures
6. Confidence
Your most powerful tool is your confidence. Use a confident tone in what you say to your client, and they will be reassured that you are in control of the situation and are capable of showing them the way.
These few tips should really go a long way in helping you in winning clients. If you follow these few simple steps, you should be successful in converting from queries into clients in your role as a pet bereavement counsellor.
