Why should I do a course?

People sometimes ask me if it’s worth enrolling on a course? Is the certificate worthwhile?

Maybe you can just read self-development startup books, and then launch your business or practice?

Can you avoid those painful costs, not to mention the time involved in studying?

Any course costs money; and that’s cash no one wants to part with.

So yes you can certainly set up as a counsellor, just by reading self-development books. But not studying means there’s a higher risk of failure. What information will you miss? Will you know what to charge? Or how to find clients?

Enrolling on a course is good value when you consider the income that you will gain over a lifetime. And avoiding the pain of failure just makes a course a more sensible choice. But ultimately, the choice is up to you.
